It's good to be back in the USA, but man I'm telling you Canada is a trip you must take if you haven't already. I'm not suggesting you go after September, unless you're skiing, but the summer in Manitoba is the equivalent to a trip to the Caribbean in the winter...As always, the fishing was amazing at God's Lake, and I got to spend some good quality time w/ friends and family. Played a little bit of Ukulele between the hours on the lake too... July is going to be a busy month and the acoustic shows are plentiful. Peep out the shows page and put us on your calendar for a night will ya? Happy 4th o' July! ~Prez
It was a great run of shows this past week....I met a ton of cool people and had a blast playing Chicago, Aurora, and Davenport. With that being said...I'm exhausted! I guess I'll have to rally because it's back to the studio tonight to add percussion to a few more Ukulele tracks I've been working on over the last few months. The tunes are sounding very fresh, and I can't wait to post em on here for you guys to check out. It's a little different style than you may be used to, but judging from the reactions of the very few who've heard the demos, I'm thinkin' you'll dig it! That's the news for now...time to take a nap :) I don't know why the title of this blog is Funions, but it was the first thing that came to my mind for some reason when I started typing so I just went with it. Happy day, happy day the sun is shining in Chicago again! The tomato plants in my yard are starting to flower and the red peppers are looking pretty healthy as well. I'll keep you updated and post some pics as the summer goes on. Exciting stuff I know! So I'm going to attempt to keep you updated with my latest music downloads and feel free to share yours on the blog as well. PIcked up 'Brothers' by Black Keys yesterday and Dispatch's new EP as well. I have to say the Black Keys albums blew me away from start to finish. Lotta soul in those boys music. Dispatch, I'm still getting used to but overall I'm digging it. It's nice to hear some tunes from a band that really inspired me back in the early 2000s. So what are you guys listening to? I'm off to play Ballydoyle in Aurora tonight....should be a rad time! Prez Hey friends! Welcome to the new and improved hub for Painkiller Hotel. Alas, a website I have full access to! No more waiting for the web dude to update the site and update the show calendar. Thank you Weebly! Freedommmmmmmm...Well, one of the cool features we'll have access to is a built in blog. I'll be filling you guys in on all of the latest happenings and show announcements. Feel free to comment and interact. I love hearing from you guys. It's been a heck of a ride over the last few years and we've met a lot of great people along the way. Words can't express how much gratification it gives me to have the fans and friend support we've been fortunate enough to receive from all of you! Supporting original music takes a little bit more from a true fan and if you're reading this blog you've given us that little bit more. That was kind of a long winded way of just saying Thank You! Plenty of cool shows coming up this summer w/ PkH and the new Kevin & The Magic Ukulele show. Hope to catch ya at one of em'. Next update coming soon, and I'll continue to keep improving the site. Until next time... Prez |
